The Sweet Souvenir part 1
Well..i've just hit the halfway point on the art of my next comic, and I wanted to go about explaining what I have planned as well as give as detail as i can get without spoiling, history and a few sneak peeks of this book i want to eventually share.
This book came into my head around issue 3 of Suburban Folklore. (yes there were actual issues of them) The idea was that i wanted Suburban Folklore to be a book like Adrian Tomine's Optic Nerve or Daniel Clowes' Eightball, you know, have issues of the book, and each story were to be collected in a graphic novel, so the graphic novel would be the first..5-6 issues, and then issues 6 through 9 would be the next and so on.
after the reality check of not finding a publisher, and retailers giving a damn and so on, i released the Suburban Folklore graphic novel, and went about "thinking" about what would become "The Sweet Souvenir" (if you really want to know, I intended to have at least 3 storylines of Suburban Folklore with the 4th being this "Magnum opus")

This book has similarities with Suburban Folklore, but with Folklore, I experimented with different storytelling techniques. Going back and forth in time, dream sequences, short stories that fold into a bigger storyline, with this one I wanted to tell it a little differently. I want to be able to show 2 characters lives, and hopefully if I succeed, you'll know mostly everything about them by the time the book is over. from their thought processes, to eventually why they are unhappy.
all of this, and I still haven't given the synopsis of the book. i will in the next post, stay tuned

Having read a draft of the script, I have to say I can't wait to see how this thing will actually look. It's going to be another great story, to say the least.
